Gentle Laguna Niguel Root Canals
Endodontic therapy, more commonly referred to as “root canal treatment” is a type of dental procedure that treats traumatized teeth with nerve damage or infections. When the only other viable option is to have your tooth pulled, a root canal can save and preserve it for several more years. After all, there’s nothing as good as your healthy, natural teeth!
Do I Need a Root Canal?
The only way to know for certain whether or not root canal therapy is necessary, is for Dr. Michelle Eng to examine the tooth and an X-ray of its nerve and root. Temperature or pressure tests may also need to be performed.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may need endodontic treatment:
- Dental abscesses along the gums
- Darkening of an individual tooth
- Past trauma to the tooth, even if it was over a decade ago
- Visible darkening inside or around the root, as seen on the X-ray
- Pain when chewing/biting
